Los Angeles FC star Son Heung-min has been revealed as Major League Soccer’s top summer signing, earning an $11.2 million total compensation package, including a $10.4 million annual salary. That makes him the league’s second-highest-paid player behind Lionel Messi, who earns $20.4 million from Inter Miami.
Son joined LAFC in August after leaving Tottenham and quickly impressed with nine goals in 10 MLS matches. Messi, whose contract runs through 2025, reportedly agreed to an extension through 2028.
Messi’s Miami teammate Rodrigo De Paul earns $1.5m in salary and $3.6m in total compensation. Other big earners include Hirving “Chucky” Lozano ($7.6m), Jonathan Bamba ($5.6m), Wilfried Zaha ($2.8m), Thomas Müller ($1.4m), and Wessam Abou Ali ($2.2m).
