George Russell said, “That’s how you do it.” He led from start to finish and took victory for Mercedes in Singapore.
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri fought fiercely behind him. Their title battle turned ugly right from the first corner.
Norris pushed past Piastri at the start. The Australian hit back on team radio, shouting, “Are we cool with Lando just barging me out of the way?”
He added, “That wasn’t very team-like.” The McLaren pit wall replied that they’d review it later.
Piastri snapped, “That’s not fair. If he avoids Verstappen by hitting me, that’s a pretty bad job of avoiding.”
Norris claimed it was just hard racing. He refused to give the place back, remembering Monza, when the team made him swap.
Russell stayed calm up front. “The car felt perfect,” he said after crossing the line five seconds clear of Verstappen.
Norris finished third, Piastri fourth. The gap in the championship is now 22 points.
McLaren’s celebrations for the constructors’ title felt tense. Piastri barely spoke after the race.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff smiled. “George was flawless,” he said. “This one’s fully deserved.”
Final order: Russell, Verstappen, Norris, Piastri, Antonelli, Leclerc, Hamilton, Alonso, Bearman, Sainz.
