Google has rolled out its largest update yet to Gemini AI, coinciding with the launch of the Pixel 10 range, Pixel Watch 4 and new earbuds. The shift highlights a stronger focus on “agentic AI” — assistants that anticipate user needs rather than waiting for commands.
At the heart of the upgrade is Magic Cue, a Pixel 10 feature that cross-references Gmail, Calendar and Maps to deliver timely suggestions. Booking information will surface automatically during airline calls, while messages about social plans may trigger restaurant options in the conversation thread. Built on the Tensor G5 chip, the features run directly on-device for faster and more private AI interactions.
Pixel 10 Series
Pixel 10 introduces a 6.3-inch OLED screen and a new triple-lens camera system with a 10.8MP telephoto offering 5x zoom. The Pixel 10 Pro, available in 6.3 and 6.8-inch sizes, adds a 48MP telephoto with 10x optical zoom. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold becomes one of the first foldables with full IP68 protection and carries a system similar to the standard Pixel 10. Prices start at £799 for the Pixel 10, £999 for the Pixel 10 Pro, and £1,749 for the Fold. Release dates are 28 August for Pixel 10 and 10 Pro, and 9 October for the Fold.
Smarter Photography
The Camera Coach feature leverages AI to guide users through shot composition, framing and lighting adjustments in real time, making it easier to improve photos.
Pixel Watch 4
The Pixel Watch 4 brings Gemini to wearables, transforming the watch into a personal fitness and wellness guide. Integrated with Fitbit, it can build tailored health plans, track performance as workouts happen, and provide conversational coaching. Hardware updates deliver a 10% larger display, satellite SOS functionality in the US, and user-serviceable components. Pricing begins at £349 (€499 / $349 / A$579).
Pixel Buds 2a
Rounding out the announcements, Google introduced the Pixel Buds 2a, a lower-cost alternative to the Buds Pro 2. With active noise cancellation, the Tensor A1 chip, and onboard Gemini AI voice support, they come at £129 (€149 / $129 / A$239). The charging case has a replaceable battery, though the earbuds themselves are not designed to be repaired.
Strategic Shift
By integrating Gemini AI into smartphones, smartwatches, and earbuds, Google is positioning its hardware as a unified ecosystem. The goal is to create digital assistants that monitor context and act in advance, redefining how users interact with technology across everyday scenarios.
