Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya continued his remarkable run of form as the club equalled a 122-year-old clean sheet record, going eight consecutive games without conceding.
During Arsenal’s 3–0 Champions League win at Slavia Prague, Raya’s only real involvement came late on when he saved the hosts’ sole shot on target after a penalty was overturned by VAR. The Spaniard has now gone nearly 13 hours without conceding, with Arsenal allowing just 12 shots on target in that time.
Since arriving from Brentford in 2023, Raya has kept 50 clean sheets in 110 games, surpassing the mark of early 1900s record holder Jimmy Ashcroft. His 84.2% save rate leads the Premier League, while his proactive “sweeper-keeper” style has become a key part of Mikel Arteta’s system.
Raya credited his composure and alertness for the streak:
“You never know when the other team will get a chance,” he said. “I have to be alert 90, even 100 minutes every game.”
Arteta praised his keeper’s focus, calling him “exceptional” in training and in-game anticipation.
Now unbeaten in 10 straight matches, Arsenal face a stern test at in-form Sunderland this weekend as Raya and the Gunners aim to make club history with a ninth consecutive shutout.
