Coca-Cola has launched legal action against Vue after the cinema chain ended their near 25-year partnership and switched to PepsiCo as its exclusive soft drink supplier in Europe.
Vue, which operates more than 220 cinemas across eight countries, selected PepsiCo in March last year for a deal running until at least 2030. Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Great Britain filed a claim to recover alleged unpaid debts linked to the contract’s termination, although Vue says the disputed sum was under £100,000 and has now been settled.
Vue’s chief executive, Tim Richards, criticised the legal move, saying the issue could have been resolved informally. The winding-up petition has since been withdrawn, and both sides say no money is now outstanding.
