A car exploded near New Delhi’s historic Red Fort on Monday, killing at least eight people and injuring several others. The explosion ignited fires that destroyed multiple parked vehicles. Police quickly cordoned off the area and began emergency operations.

City fire services deployed several engines after the blast near a Red Fort metro station gate. Crews battled flames and prevented the fire from spreading further. Rescue teams helped the injured and cleared debris from the site.
Chaos and Damage Reported by Witnesses
Residents described hearing a “window-shattering sound” before seeing vehicles engulfed in flames. Formerly an imperial palace, the Red Fort remains a major tourist attraction. Local media captured images of burned cars and police barricades surrounding the area. Police spokesman Sanjay Tyagi confirmed casualties and said investigators are working to determine the blast’s cause.
