American Airlines is making travel to one of the Caribbean’s most stunning islands easier for U.S. travelers. The airline announced a new route connecting Miami International Airport (MIA) with Bimini in The Bahamas starting February 14, 2026.
The new nonstop service will operate three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays using the Embraer 175 aircraft. The flights will offer two cabin classes: Main Economy and Premium. Round-trip fares for February are now available, starting at $732 in economy.
This short, hour-long flight will provide convenient access to South Bimini Airport (BIM) and make American Airlines the only U.S. carrier offering direct service to the island. Bimini is located just 50 miles off the coast of Florida and is known for its soft white sand beaches, clear turquoise waters, and excellent snorkeling and diving spots. Travelers can also explore nearby secluded cays, adding to the island’s charm.
Brian Znotins, American Airlines’ senior vice president of network planning, said the addition reflects the airline’s commitment to expanding unique travel experiences. He noted that American has recently launched routes to destinations such as Prague, Budapest, and Sun Valley, and now travelers can enjoy an island getaway in the Bahamas.
Bimini will become American Airlines’ seventh destination in The Bahamas. The airline already serves Nassau, Exuma’s Georgetown, Eleuthera’s Governor’s Harbour, and Freeport on Grand Bahama. With this expansion, Bimini joins a growing list of easily accessible islands for U.S. travelers seeking tropical escapes.
American Airlines is also increasing flight frequencies to Marsh Harbour on Grand Abaco and North Eleuthera for the December 2025 holiday season. These additions aim to meet rising demand for Caribbean vacations during peak travel periods.
The new Miami-Bimini route underscores the airline’s strategy to provide convenient and exclusive connections to popular destinations in the Caribbean. Travelers looking for a short, relaxing getaway can now fly nonstop from Miami to Bimini, avoiding longer connecting flights through other islands.
Bimini’s appeal goes beyond its beaches. The island offers a mix of outdoor adventures, including snorkeling with tropical fish, diving in blue holes, and exploring its historic landmarks. The easy access from Florida makes it a prime destination for quick weekend trips or longer tropical vacations.
The airline’s choice of the Embraer 175 for this route ensures a comfortable experience for passengers. The aircraft is known for its modern cabin design and efficiency on shorter routes. Travelers in Premium cabins can enjoy extra space, while economy passengers benefit from reliable service and convenient flight times.
With nonstop access to Bimini, American Airlines strengthens its Caribbean network and gives travelers a new option for tropical escapes. The move also highlights the growing interest in lesser-known islands that offer peaceful settings, clear waters, and a chance to experience authentic Bahamian culture.
Flights are already on sale, allowing travelers to plan ahead for the February 2026 launch. With American Airlines’ new service, reaching Bimini from Miami has never been easier, offering a seamless and fast connection to one of the Bahamas’ most beautiful islands.
